Capacity Development for Results Open Knowledge, Innovative Solutions, Collective Governance

In the last 4 years, the World Bank Institute, the training arm of the World Bank, has undergone a far reaching transformation that has led to a different positioning and the development of new business lines. The Institute now focuses on strengthening the capacity of government and non-government actors to tackle development challenges, through a combination of access to knowledge, innovative solutions and multi-stakehoders engagement. The presentation will introduce this new approach to capacity development.

Bruno Laporte is the Director of Thematic Knowledge and Learning at the World Bank Institute. In his current responsibilities, he oversees several Practices aimed at developing the capacity of client countries to access and use knowledge and to design and develop realistic and achievable strategies to address the challenges they face. These Practices include: Growth and Crisis, Climate Change, Urban, Public Private Partnerships, and Health System Strengthening. In this position, he contributed to a far reaching restructuring of the Institute strategy and operations, aimed at combining knowledge, collaborative governance and innovative solutions into capacity development programs.
