An organization’s performance on any single day is a direct result of the decisions made and actions taken that day by every single employee.  In the current business environment—characterized by increasing Change, Uncertainty, Complexity and Anxiety (CUCA)—those decisions and actions must be based on effective knowledge.

Knowledge, the capacity to take effective action, emerges from EVERY aspect of a decision-makers life.  Organizations can no longer afford to ignore the potential of the power of knowledge building in each mind/brain.  You—the decision-maker—have an amazing storehouse of knowledge within, knowledge that you have been accumulating over a lifetime.  How do you access your personal knowledge resources?  How do you ensure you have the best possible knowledge resources?

This seminar will progress through the individual change model, first building awareness, understanding and belief in your personal knowledge resources; then providing simple but powerful tools you can use to expand your personal knowledge resources for future decision-making.  Supporting research from complexity theory and neuroscience will be provided, including Mountain Quest Institute White Papers to support a deeper understanding of concepts and successful application of tools.

Alex Bennet is a Founder and Co-Director Mountain Quest Institute, a research and retreat center dedicated to working with individuals, groups and organizations to achieve growth, understanding and sustainable performance. Headquartered in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia, the Institute offers facilities, support services, research and workshops to help both Government and Industry sustain high performance in an environment of change, uncertainty, complexity and anxiety (CUCA). Their aggressive research and implementation focus includes knowledge mobilization and knowledge management; decision-making in complex adaptive situations; the use of stories to infuse values; developing a new theory of knowledge; expanding consciousness studies and practices; and new ways of perceiving, thinking and knowing.  MQI is a member of The Monroe Institute Professional Division.

As detailed below, Dr. Bennet is the former Chief Knowledge Officer and Deputy Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Integration of the U.S. Department of the Navy (DON), having previously served as Acquisition Reform Executive and Standards Improvement Executive for the DON Acquisition Workforce.  She is Co-Chair Emeritus of the Federal Knowledge Management Working Group.  Alex and David Bennet are the authors of Organizational Survival in the New World: The Intelligent Complex Adaptive System, a new theory of the firm based on research in complexity and neuroscience that turns the living system metaphor into a reality for organizations (Elsevier, 2004).  More recently they are co-authors of Moving from Research to Action: Knowledge Mobilization in the Social Sciences and Humanities, a methodology focused on moving research from the University lab to the playgrounds of communities (MQI Press, 2007).  The Bennets publish widely and regularly keynote in international conferences and forums.
